John Batty fishing at Loch Finlas, Ayrshire.

Elite Tours offers tours and travel, incorporating Scottish castles and historic houses, hunting, shooting and fishing in Scotland and tours to India. We create an exclusive personal itinerary based on your requirements and interests.

John Batty started his multi-faceted company 'JB Elite' after thirty years as a Curator with The National Trust for Scotland. Based in Charlotte Square,in the heart of Georgian Edinburgh, Scotland's historic capital city, his responsibilities took him to every corner of Scotland, furnishing many of the Trust's world renowned properties.

During this time, Edinburgh University asked him to lead over ten tours for them in which he guided groups of students to look at historic sites in England whilst lecturing on the properties. He was also a guest lecturer on many 'Trust Cruises' sailing to Scandinavian countries and Scottish islands.

In 1996, he organized 'The Swords and Sorrows' exhibition at Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the last Jacobite Rising. In 2005-6 he was project curator for a cavalry regimental museum at Edinburgh Castle for The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers & Greys) opened by HM The Queen in June 2006.

This project was followed by the creation and display of a world renowned collection of arms and armour from the Prince Lobkowicz family in Bohemia. An armoury in the Lobkowicz Palace in Prague Castle and a Prince's Gun Room and Trophy Gallery at Nelahozeves Castle north of Prague.

Over the thirty years, John's knowledge of Scotland's historic castles, houses and sporting estates expanded, as did his shooting, stalking and fishing contacts.

The arms, armour, sporting and historic weapons in the Trust's care became a special interest for him and,six years ago, he was appointed the consultant to Lyon and Turnbull (Edinburgh Auctioneers established in 1826) on Arms & Armour, Sporting Guns and related items.

In designing a tour, John and his wife Angela create an exclusive personal itinerary based on your requirements and interests. In the furnishing of properties, as well as in their other services, they provide the highest standards of personal attention.
